2016 SBHL All Star Game

The Samson’s Ball Hockey League will host its 3rd Annual Sr. All Stars vs. Legends All Star Game on Monday, March 28. The Sr. All Stars will be looking to capture their first win over the Legends (the coaches) in the event’s history. The Legends are a perfect 2-0 winning by a combined score of 18-6.

The Legends welcome some new recruits this year. Morgan Hobbs, Jacob Holloway & Richmond Fillion may finally be able to experience All Star victory now that they will be suiting up for the Legends. All three have previously played in a combined five All Star Games, highlighted by Holloway’s MVP performance last year where he tallied a hat-trick. Also new to the Legends is first year coach Greg Browning.

The All Star roster is headlined by first time All Star and Damascus Division’s leading goal scorer Jordon Groves. Groves leads the league with 36 goals and is 2nd in points with 55, which is 18 points up than the next player. Joining him are Walker Hobbs, Seth Henderson & Corey Flett, who all lead their respective teams in points. Hobbs (19G/13A/37P) & Henderson (17G/13A/30P) are two-time All Stars, while Flett (12G/14A/26P) makes his All Star debut in his first year in the league.

Rounding out the roster is two-time All Star Moemoe Ducharme (10G/16A/26P), who leads the Cyclones with a 1.86 points per game average, and first timers, Brendan Wood (1G/2A/3P), who is a solid two-way player and has helped solidify the Kings’ defensive game at both the defense and forward positions; Dakota Hendry (3G/4A/7P), who has done everything for the Sharks, offence, defense, and for the last couple months goaltending; and Tyree Jackson (4G/2A/6P), who has flown under the radar of the stat leaders only tallying six points, but has been one of the Jets’ best position players.

Manning the crease for the Sr. All Stars are the Kings’ Jamie Flett & the Jets’ Tyson Amos. Flett split time as the Kings goaltender this year but took over the #1 spot in January. He’s posted a 4.96 goals against average (GAA) in 8 games along with a 4-3 record including two big shootout wins against the league leading Sharks in the last month. Amos has also split time as the Jets’ goaltender, posting a 4.71GAA, which is 2nd among active goaltenders, and has a 5-2 record. Both will be making their first All Star appearance.

The All Star Game will start at 7pm at Youth For Christ.
