After 5 seasons and 3 Final losses, the Rebels are once again Stanley Cup Champions!
Heading into the playoffs the Rebels sat in 3rd place overall with a matchup against a very skilled Herd team. From the start the Rebels played well rounded team defence keeping the Herd’s big threats out of high danger scoring areas. But even when that didn’t work, goaltender Finn Hildebrand was ready to make unreal save after unreal save! The Rebels’ then took turns capitalizing on chances with six different goal scorers to secure a two-game sweep, 3-1 3-1.
Onto the Final where they had to face a Jets teams who after ending up in last place on the year, upset the first place Kings to return looking to be the first back-to-back champs since the Rebels did it in 2019 & 2021. From the drop of the ball in game one, the Rebels executed their game plan to perfection. It was one of the most complete team efforts we’ve ever seen in the YFCHL. The forecheck & backcheck were relentless, leading to goals off turnovers. The defense was smothering and the attack was unrelenting. In the end the Rebels shutout the Jets for the first 43 of 48 minutes, with Hildebrand coming up huge when called upon. The Rebels took the series 3-0 3-2 for the franchises 4th Stanley Cup and first since 2021. Finn Hildebrand set a new YFCHL record for the lowest Goals Against Average in a single playoff year with a 1.00 GAA. Graduating player Michael Stetski goes out on top as a two-time Stanley Cup Champion.
